SEWA stands for 'Service for Economic Welfare and Awareness'. SEWA Charitable Foundation is a Mumbai based NGO creating awareness in three areas:

1. Unethical practices of recovery of dues used by lending organisations:
   What are the rights of borrowers and guarantors in distress, how to stop lending organisations from liquidating assets at a throwaway price, how to negotiate with such institutions etc.
   This project is called Borrowers 'n' Guarantors Support (BnG).
   
   
2. Information support to patients:
   Topics covered are - how to prevent a disease, how to arrest proliferation of a disease, do's and dont's associated with treatment of a disease, general understanding of serious ailments, how to find doctors by specialty, comparative prices of prescription medicines etc. PatientIndia.com is already providing these information free of cost through the net. SEWA has embarked upon taking these contents to non-users of internet. This project is called PatientSupport.
   
   
3. Sustainable environment protection measures:
   Environment protection measures employed by municipal corporations create pollution in so many cases. That is because of inappropriate measures used. Chemical methods employed create tremendous amount of secondary pollution. As a result of all these people living close to a dumping ground or a polluted water body can suffer from serious ailments. Science already has provided solution to such problems. However, awareness amongst decision makers and general public is a big obstacle. We are trying to create awareness among public and authorities about these advanced methods of protecting the environment. This project is called Clean N Green.
